Over 16K city voters have cast ballots

The City of Pensacola could set a record for turnout in a mid-term election.  According to the Supervisor of Elections’ spreadsheet of early and mail-in votes by precinct, 16,305 votes have been cast through Saturday. More votes have been cast than in the August 28 primary.

That’s 79.3 percent of the total votes cast in 2014 general election when the mayor’s race was on the ballot.

If we assume that two-thirds of the vote have been cast, the total votes by city’s registered voters will be over 24,000.

*Note: We’ve been notified Precinct 15 covers more than District 6 voters so the city voters are less than 1244. During the primary, only 143 were city voters. If we replace 1244 with 143 to 200, total votes cast so far between 15,205 and 15,262 – which still sets the city on course for a record turnout of about 23,000.
