Inside Andrews Institute

testTonight, Baptist Hospital gave guided, hard hat tours inside Phase 1 of the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze. The facility is about 80% complete. They hope to have it ready to receive patients by mid-December. With some luck, they may even be able to host college football players and help them prepare for the NFL Combines after the bowl games have been played.

The facility is an efficient, teaching facility that will allow Dr. Andrews and others to work on several patients a day. All the operating rooms are digital – doctors from around the world can watch procedures over the Internet. The flow of the first floor – operating, pre-op, post-op and rehabilitation areas – made logical sense and is designed to Dr. Andrews specifications.

We were given the tour by Alex Lincoln – who played football at Auburn and with the NFL 49-ers. He is the Institute’s Director of Athletic Performance.

Also accompanying us was Kelly Kings – project manager for Morette Construction. Small world – Kelly played AAU basketball with Cat and was on the State Champion basketball team at Catholic High. She went to Catholic University on a volleyball scholarship. Graduated with a degrees in civil engineering and construction management.
