Local selected statewide Medical Professional of the Year 2022

Lakeview Center psychiatrist Annie Cherian, M.D., has been selected by the Florida Behavioral Health Association as the Medical Professional of the Year. Inspired by her deep commitment to improving the lives of those who live in and around Northwest Florida, the selection committee was unanimous in selecting Dr. Cherian as the winner.

Dr. Cherian is a Doctor of Medicine with a specialization in psychiatry. In her 43-year career, she has overseen approximately 200 inpatient beds at three facilities, including a community hospital psychiatric unit, an acute stabilization unit and a state mental hospital. She has also served as medical director guiding a team of more than 30 psychiatric medical staff at Lakeview Center, including physicians and mid-level practitioners.

“If ever a person has a gift for psychiatry, it is Dr. Cherian,” said Shawn Salamida, president, Lakeview Center Behavioral Health Services. “She has shaped the tone of interventions within our organization and our community, laid the foundation for our culture and improved countless lives.”
