Job fair for Warrington Preparatory Academy

Warrington Middle is now Warrington Preparatory Academy. The new operator, Charter Schools USA, will hold a job fair on Thursday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Residence Inn by Marriott, 6000 Cobble Creek Road in Pensacola.

  • The organizers have asked that all who apply bring their resume and any certifications they’ve earned.

Dig Deeper: The Escambia County Public Schools sent out this message:

ECPS is working together with Charter Schools USA to make the transition for families as easy as possible. All students zoned to Warrington Middle School will automatically be accepted at Warrington Preparatory Academy. Charter Schools USA will hold multiple enrollment sessions at the school and at locations throughout the community to make it easier for parents to enroll their children. Parents will receive updates from School Messenger and the website ( https://wms-ecsd-fl.schoolloop.com/ ) with dates, times and locations.

Warrington Preparatory Academy students will wear uniforms, which will be provided to all families from Charter Schools USA. Additionally, ECPS will continue to provide transportation for zoned students not residing in the school’s walk zone. Charter Schools USA will have a new vendor for meal service and will provide free and reduced lunches for all who qualify.

We are excited to work in partnership with Warrington Preparatory Academy by providing a positive educational experience for our students, teachers, and parents in the Warrington Community.

  1. Bingo, Joanne. Escambia School District needs to be audited from top to bottom back to the time that Malcolm Thomas was overseeing the “improvements” at Warrington Middle, in particular. But the State needs to take a big look into all the Escambia Schools’ procurement and facility management in general.

Unfortunately, I don’t trust the State right now one jot either, and the results of such a thing, in the current political moment, could very well be whatever is considered best for DuhSantis on his presidential tour, which relies on his dangerous culture wars. Unless and until enough of the groundlings in the legislature are tired of looking like the lackey doofuses they have become and find enough spine to start dragging this state out of the vortex they’ve dragged us into in their service of our governor’s banana republic, the State on anything is a (weighted) roll of the dice.

Still, a state audit is the only tool in the box to get to the bottom of all this, for whatever it would be worth. I’d just hate to see the results being some bogus scorecard crying up what a wonderful job Malcolm Thomas did in contrast with Dr. Smith, as the Malcolm set is much more in tune with the current administration’s goals. It’s sad when it comes down to having to hope that things that need to be investigated happen to coincide with somebody’s current hit list on a State level.

  2. I wish Warrington Preparatory Academy every success. I encourage Escambia County School District and Board members to use wisdom in their interactions with Charter USA, as the State, as suggested by Sen. Bronson, is watching closely.
Further, since reading and hearing about the deplorable conditions of Warrington Middle School under ECSD/SB leadership, I am concerned about the reportedly “millions of dollars” spoken of by an ECSB member, spent over time to improve the school. Is there any accountability, effective oversight or transparency as to how the millions of dollars was used?
