Liberty Counsel to sue Santa Rosa schools


Liberty Counsel, a conservative Christian group that has offices in Florida, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., has told the Daily News that it plans to sue the Santa Rosa County School District for violating the constitutional rights of its staff and students.

The Liberty Counsel filed a motion to intervene last summer on behalf of several members of the Christian Educators Association International (CEAI) who work for the school district. The motion was filed in response to a consent decree the district signed after the ACLU sued on behalf of two Pace High School students who said religion was being forced on them.

School district attorneys have protested Liberty Counsel’s intervention as being done to “inflame district employees, secure plaintiffs for their agenda-driven intervention action and to generate revenue”
