Landrum 5K raises over $17K for Mental Health Services at Lakeview Center

The second annual Landrum 5K Run/Walk has made a significant impact on mental health services in Northwest Florida, with organizers presenting a generous $17,297.14 donation to Lakeview Center from the proceeds of their October 2024 event.

Why this matters: The contribution directly supports the organization’s mission to serve adults and children struggling with mental illnesses, substance dependencies, and intellectual disabilities throughout the region.

  • Last year alone, Lakeview Center served more than 27,000 adults and children, offering comprehensive care that spans from Escambia to Walton County. The organization provides over 60 specialized programs, including outpatient counseling, psychiatric care, children’s services, 24/7 crisis support, and residential treatment for substance abuse.

“Our second annual 5K was another great event, encouraging people to get active to improve mental health,” said Britt Landrum III, CEO of Landrum. “It was amazing to see our event grow and for the awareness about the link between mental health and exercise to become stronger.”

Supporting Critical Mental Health Services

The donation comes at a crucial time when mental health services are in high demand.

“The generous support of the Landrum team and event sponsors will help benefit the more than 27,000 adults and children served every year through Lakeview Center,” said Allison Hill, CEO of Lakeview Center’s parent company, LifeView Group. “The need for mental health services in our community is tremendous. Every day, 50 new clients reach out to Lakeview Center asking for help with mental health or substance misuse treatment.”

Looking Ahead

Looking ahead, the third annual Landrum 5K is scheduled for Oct. 11, beginning at 8 a.m. from the Landrum office, 219 E. Garden Street. Registration is already open and will continue through 7:45 a.m. on race day. Participants can look forward to refreshments, prizes for top male and female racers, and additional awards for specific age groups.
