A Case for Encouraging Tourists

The Times’ Mark Vanhoenacker suggests  America’s “Unwelcome Mat”  (the ESTA, or Electronic System for Travel Authorization) complete with ugly low-tech website and embarrassing questionnaire may be turning off or even turning away foreign visitors.  But the ESTA might be considered a godsend,  since the questionnaire asks travelers about spying, terrorist activity, disease agents and moral turpitude… it might be good to know about these tendencies ahead of time.  READ on nytimes.com
