The main event, the Walkabout Tasting, runs from 7-10 p.m. in the WSRE Jean & Paul Amos Performance Studio. Local chefs will showcase their interpretations of Creole cuisine, while Grammy-nominated artist Corey Ledet Zydeco will add to the ambiance.
- Ledet, known for seamlessly blending traditional and contemporary zydeco styles, has performed in 15 countries and earned Grammy nominations for his albums “Nothin’ But the Best” and his self-titled release.
- Having thoroughly studied Creole culture and music, Ledet has a versatile and traditional sound that guarantees to please and rock any audience. He remains true to his roots, keeping one foot firmly in the tradition while exploring surrounding influences. He creates the best of both worlds, infusing old and new styles of zydeco and blues into his own unique sound.
VIP PACKAGE
The VIP package includes the pre-party, Crescent City Soirée, from 6-7:30 p.m. on the college’s Morette Sky Terrace. The rooftop reception features a special cooking demonstration by acclaimed New Orleans chef John Besh, whose culinary empire includes nine restaurants – August, Domenica, Luke, Pizza Domenica, Shaya, Willa Jean, Eunice and Tavi. His flagship restaurant, August, is a Gayot Top 40 Restaurant and a Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Restaurant, in addition to being nominated in 2012 and 2013 for the James Beard Outstanding Restaurant Award and in 2014 for the Outstanding Service Award.
- Besh will share the spotlight with local executive chefs Darian Hernandez, Irv Miller, and Gus Silivos. The 9th Avenue Brass Band will provide the perfect New Orleans soundtrack while guests enjoy champagne and craft cocktails.
This year’s event is chaired by Louise and Dr. Brent Videau, who also chairs the WSRE-TV Foundation board of directors. Standard tickets for the Walkabout Tasting are available for $65, while VIP packages, which include access to both events, are $125.
