It’s hot out there. Whether you’re recovering from the Blue Angels airshow this weekend or skipped the beach crowds altogether, there’s a surefire way to beat the summer heat: cheap books!
This Saturday and Sunday, the Friends of West Florida Public Library will host the Big Summer Book Sale at the Main Branch library in downtown Pensacola. Stock up on great reading materials to enjoy somewhere cool, plus DVDs, CDs, audiobooks and other items.
The rules are a little different from past book sales. On Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., all items are $1. Sunday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is the return of the popular $5 Bag Sale, when shoppers can fill an entire brown paper grocery bag for just $5. Can you beat the record of 67 books in a single bag?
Paper grocery bags are provided during the Sunday sale; there’s no need to bring your own. Please note that, unlike the spring and fall sales, books will not be sorted into categories. Shoppers may pay with cash, check or credit card.
Friends of West Florida Public Library is a non-profit organization founded in 1973 to support the local library system. Book sale proceeds are used to fund programs and enhancements at West Florida Public Library branches.
