Installation of Full 3-Mile Walking Trail to Continue Next Week

The 3-mile historic walking trail is a collaborative partnership between the City of Pensacola, Visit Pensacola and the A1S Trail Foundation. The A1S trail will run through the Pensacola Historic District, ultimately featuring a continuous brick trail with 20 14” historic bronze plaques with corresponding QR codes that will display information about Pensacola’s history and landmarks along the way offering new opportunities for residents and visitors to explore Pensacola’s rich history.

Phase I of the A1S trail began earlier this month with anticipation of phase I completion early June 2022. Phase I will include a continuous maroon colored painted line mirroring the chosen brick that will eventually be installed along the entire trail. The painted line is scheduled to be installed beginning as early as next Tuesday, May 24 with an estimated completion of Friday, May 27, weather permitting. Phase I will also include a new striped pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Government Street and Florida Blanca Street and the placement of 20 14” temporary stickers resembling the plaques that will be installed at a later date.

Future phases of the trail implementation will include the installation of the continuous brick trail, installation of pedestrian crosswalks at intersections along the trail, the placement of the 20 14” bronze plaques as well as benches that will be placed along the trail to enhance the overall experience.

A1S Foundation founder Michael Carro shares the details.
