Amtrak lays out Southern Rail Commission tour schedule

Amtrak and the Southern Rail Commission tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 19) are conducting a tour to examine new ideas for intercity passenger rail by operating an Inspection Train across Florida, from Pensacola to Jacksonville.

Background:

The Amtrak Inspection Train will carry state and local elected and appointed officials, community leaders, federal stakeholders and industry representatives. The goal is to examine the existing CSX railroad infrastructure and to better understand rail’s economic, cultural and mobility opportunities, based on a study Amtrak presented to the SRC in December regarding service from New Orleans to Orlando, via Tallahassee and Jacksonville.
