The Gulf Breeze Chapter of the Share Pregnancy & Infant Loss Group, a local support group for parents who are dealing with the loss of a baby, will host a candlelight memorial service on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. at Bay View Memorial Gardens on Scenic Highway in Pensacola. The ceremony will be conducted at the “Angel of Hope†statue. The public is invited to light a candle and lay a flower in memory of their precious babies or children (of any age), including adult children, who have died.
Each year on Dec. 6 at 7 p.m., cities around the world that have an Angel of Hope Statue hold a similar candlelight memorial service to honor and remember these children who are deeply loved and never forgotten.
The Angel of Hope statue is an exact replica of the original Christmas Box Angel of Hope statue, located in Salt Lake City, Utah. It stands as a symbol of hope for all parents who have experienced the loss of a baby or child of any age. The Angel of Hope is based on the angel statue in the book “The Christmas Box” by Richard Paul Evans, www.richardpaulevans.com.
Share is a self-help support group that meets the second Tuesday of each month from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church’s Community Life Center, and the group is for parents who have lost babies through pregnancy loss or newborn death (up to one year of age.) Monthly discussion topics and parent support is available at no cost to participants.
