Another daily cuts staff

Orlando Sentinel  has announced that it will eliminate about two dozen jobs as it restructures the paper’s news gathering operation to place greater emphasis on the Internet.

The staff reductions will take place over the next four to six weeks and will include a voluntary separation program. An unspecified number of jobs will also be cut in the Sentinel’s operations department, which includes the pressroom and packaging areas.

What is interesting about the article which appears in the Orlando Sentinel is that Publisher Kathleen Waltz admits the jobs are being eliminated due to falling advertising revenue.

Maybe the Sentinel should try more non-daily tabloids. They do have a House & Home – but no business journal or women’s tab.
