Arts Council Charged, No Person Arrested
By Sean Boone

The State Attorney’s Office has charged the Arts Council of Northwest Florida as a cooperation, removing any criminal action for individuals who worked for the group.

On April 29, the Arts Council of Northwest Florida pleaded guilty to two counts of making false official statements.
With the charges, the Arts Council is required to turn its charter over to The State of Florida and pay $546 in court costs.

“We thought the violations were serious enough to make two criminal cases,” said Assistant State Attorney Greg Marcille. “The paperwork was served on the board as a cooperation.”

Marcille said the action hopefully sets an “example” for other organizations.
