Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola is now the only hospital in the Panhandle to offer Level I trauma care after achieving the standards required by the Florida Department of Health. Sacred Heart Pensacola is now one of only 11 hospitals to offer Florida Level I trauma care and it is the only hospital in the country to operate as a Level I trauma center for both the states of Florida and Alabama.

Level I trauma centers offer surgical and medical specialty services to meet the needs of the most complex injuries. Sacred Heart Pensacola’s ER is equipped to provide comprehensive care for all injury-related needs across all ages, from prevention to rehabilitation.
The hospital’s Level I trauma center includes 24-hour, in-house board certified surgeons and anesthesiologists, and over 10 specialty care teams onsite and immediately available 24/7, as well as two neurosurgeons on-call 24/7.
