Attorney says Hill is supplying homestead documentation

Ed Fleming, State Rep. Mike Hill’s attorney, has told Inweekly that he has sent Escambia County Property Appraiser Chris Jones the documentation to support the homestead exemption for 6080 Forest Green Road in Marcus Pointe subdivision.

Here is the cover letter to the Jones (Levy is the Property Appraiser’s attorney) that was sent yesterday:

Dear Mr. Jones and Mr. Levy,

Please find enclosed the information you requested. This information, together with the sworn affidavit testimony provided on Monday, demonstrates that Greta Hill, as a tenants by the entireties owner of 6080 Forest Greet Road, has continually resided there as her permanent residence since 1995, with the first year that it was eligible for homestead being 1996. We have enclosed documentary evidence to support that sworn testimony that includes the addressed used on jointly-filed tax returns, utility bill, banking records, property tax bill, and previously provided you with Florida Driver’s license.

Please let me know if you need any further proof in this matter, and I thank you advance for your expedited review of these materials.

The attorney also said that Hill’s statement at the Santa Rosa GOP Women’s Club luncheon on Tuesday was a miscommunication between Hill and him.

“The confusion regarding Chris Jones having issued a news release was based on me sending to Rep. Hill a proposed news release that being sent to Mr. Jones in the event he was satisfied with the documentation,” Fleming told Inweekly. “Mike read the proposed news release and misunderstood it to be one that Chris Jones had issued – not one being proposed.”

Inweekly checked with Jones yesterday afternoon. His office was still waiting for some documentation before it made its determination on the validity of the homestead exemption.

We later got another email from Fleming that said the Hills needed to supply 1040 tax returns showing Greta Hill’s address as joint filer.

He told Inweekly, “I’ll trying to gather that up right now.”

If all the documentation is presented to the Escambia County Property Appraiser today, we may have a determination on the exemption by close of business.
