Audio: Local schools tighten security for football games

The  Escambia County School District is stepping up its security at football games.

At Pete Gindl Stadium where Tate and Pensacola High will face off at 9 a.m. on Saturday,  there will be 16 officers – 11 deputies and 5 from the city. There were 6 officers at the Booker T. Washington game before the brawl last week.

Speaking of Washington, parents received this voice message about new safety precautions for tonight’s football game:

Here is the transcript:

Good afternoon, Wildcats. This is Rick Shackle, BTWHS.

We’re excited about tomorrow night’s football game versus West Florida Tech. Please plan for the following.

The general public will have access to purchase tickets and parking passes via GoFan beginning at 5:00 PM today. Only a limited number of tickets will be available so please make sure to purchase your tickets and parking passes early. In addition, ticket sales will conclude at 7:00 PM on Friday and no additional tickets will be sold.

There will be no crossovers during the duration of this event. All BTWH students and families will enter the stadium via the College Boulevard side.

Again, thank you for all your continuous support. Have a great day and go Wildcat.
