I still have not received from Clerk Pam Childers her annual budgets and actuals for the past four years. However, a reader chastised me for not going to the audited financial statements. They did provide some budget and actual numbers, but not at the level of detail I wanted.
What Audited Financial Statements Show
However, a comparison of audited actual revenue and expenses for the Clerk’s Office shows a significant increase in expenditures that outpaced revenue between the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2022 and the one ended Sept. 30, 2025.
The Clerk’s revenues increased from $9.8 million to $11.74 million, primarily in intergovernmental revenues. Increase of $1,662,502 or 17%.
Meanwhile, her expenditures went from $12.6 million to $15.3 million, $2 million of which was in salaries and benefits. Increase $2,758,594 or 22%.
Overall, the taxpayers had to foot the bill for $2.76 million in FY 2022, and a whopping $3.9 million last year.
