North Pensacola Optimist Club has embarked on a new annual event, “Avenue of Flags.” On three national holidays – Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Veterans Day – the club will display American flags on Bayfront Parkway from Bartram Park to the Chappie James Bridge. The goal is a thousand flags or more.
For a $50 donation, businesses and individuals can sponsor 15 flags over the three holidays. All proceeds will go directly to North Pensacola Optimist Club youth programs. For details, visit pensacolaoptmists.org – which will be active later today – or email info@pensacolaoptimists.org.
