The IN has identified at least one escort that posts regularly to Backpage.com that is on probation for prostitution.
In 2006, State Attorney Bill Eddins, Escambia County and Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Department of Law Enforcement began investigating escort services advertising in the Pensacola News Journal, Northwest Florida Daily News, BellSouth’s The Real Yellow Pages and The Talking Phone Book.

Backpage.com has gone unnoticed by law enforcement here, but not elsewhere. Actor Ashton Kutcher and his wife Demi Moore have called out the Village Voice, the company that owns the site, for creating a “digital brothel.”
The actor has tweeted American Airlines, Domino’s, Disney and Columbia University who put advertising on the publication’s site. American Airlines has pulled its ads. Read more.
