PNJ columnist Reggie Dogan will be pleased to know that Baldwin County has better prostitution than Escambia County…or at least they can arrest more people when they have a sting operation.
The Mobile Press Register reports that between mid-January and the first of this month, Baldwin County police arrested 75 people — mostly men — on prostitution-related charges.
Democratic congressional hopeful Ben Lodmell was the operation’s only publicly recognizable name. Aside from the 36-year-old Mobilian vying for the congressional seat held by U.S. Rep. Jo Bonner, R-Mobile, the list of arrested men reads fairly anonymously.
According to arrest reports from Gulf Shores, for example, there was a self-employed sound engineer from Pensacola, a Gulf Shores Realtor and a U.S. Marine Corps avionics technician. One of the women arrested is a team leader at a Panhandle Whataburger restaurant.
The article doesn’t say how much the prostitutes charged but I bet it was more than $25 – as reported was the rate for some hookers in Brownsville.
