Bama Attorney General takes over Nodine case

The Alabama Attorney General’s Office announced this afternoon that it will take over prosecution of charges in Baldwin County against former Mobile County Commissioner Stephen Nodine. The former Mobile County commissioner was charged with murder in connection with the 2010 shooting death of his girlfriend, Angel Downs. His murder trial ended with a mistrial after a jury was unable to agree on a verdict.

A judge will determine which charges will be faced by Nodine. He could be re-tried on the original charges of murder and stalking, or could face charges returned by an August grand jury on the lesser offenses of negligent homicide and perjury.
