In a press release, Bare stated the majority of signatures were collected walking door to door across Pensacola. Although he had some help with the petition card collection, Bare began walking the city’s 22 precincts in mid-November 2013 and he personally collected petition cards from more than 1,300 homes.
“I challenged myself to finish the cards in advance of my opponents, and I have done that,†said Bare.
To achieve his goal, the candidate walked evenings from 4:30 to 7:30 pm and on weekends up to 7 hours per day. “For me, having the face-to-face discussions with voters in their doorways, living rooms and kitchens is invaluable. I learn so much just by listening to the voters,†said Bare, who currently serves in the At-Large B Seat of the Pensacola City Council. “Gathering the petition cards was my responsibility, and it was critical that I complete this prior to entering the next phase of my campaign.”
Bare told the IN before the council agenda review yesterday that the voter input will help him craft is his campaign message. He echoed that statement in his press release.
“I appreciate all those who signed to help me get on the ballot,” said Bare. “Their ideas will propel this campaign forward.â€
