Bare releases report on payments made to Zimmerman Agency

Pensacola City Councilman Charles Bare (At-Large B) has released to the media the list of payments made to the Zimmerman Agency for the period 1/1/2012 through 2/4/2013. Zimmerman is the Tallahassee-based marketing firm for the city that Mayor Ashton Hayward fired this week.

According to the limited descriptions for the transactions on the report provided by the city administration, the checks on cover up to December 2012 so there will more bills to pay for January and February (the effective date of the Zimmerman’s termination is Feb. 28.)

“Now that our contract with the Zimmerman Agency has been severed, as a city we must decide what direction to follow in our advertising efforts,” Bare wrote in his email to Independent News.

“I think it is important to look at the past year and see what we’ve spent and what it has gotten us. While I am still working on the outputs provided by the Zimmerman Agency, I now know what they were paid between January 2012 and February 2013. The grand total for that period was $967.583.55. That is an incredible amount of money for a contract that was supposed to cost us about $39,000 per month.”

The only problem is the monthly totals don’t added to the grand total. However, the subtotals still total to over $900,000.

Month  paid
Feb  $55,402.62
Mar  $-
Apr  $43,857.63
May  $75,116.03
June  $126,836.89
July  $111,581.46
 Aug  $71,994.81
Sept  $112,766.18
Oct  $61,045.22
Nov  $119,050.37
Dec  $78,027.07
Jan  $70,595.51
 $926,273.79

The discrepancy is $41,309.76 and we’ve asked the councilman whether his pdf is missing a page or did city staff provide him incomplete information. We will post Bare’s reply once we receive it.
