Last night on The John Batchelor Show, I discussed with host John Batchelor and John Avlon, senior political columnist for The Daily Beast, author of “Wingnuts” and CNN political analyst, the last brouhaha in the Florida governor’s race.
Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Alex Sink is defending herself after breaking the rules during Monday night’s CNN debate by reading a cell phone message from staffer Brian May during a break. The debate rules banned such communication. Sink initially said that she didn’t it was from a staff member and thought it might be from her daughter. However, CNN caught it on tape.
The Scott campaign has jumped on this calling it “iCheat” and this appears to be impacting the polls.
Sunshine State News’ nightly tracking poll of likely voters shows Scott moving from a 45-45 tie with Sink on Oct. 20 to a 47-45 advantage Monday night. Two weeks earlier (Oct. 12-13), Sink held a 48-45 advantage.
The Sink campaignh later released a statement from the candidate announcing that the adviser who sent the message has been removed from the campaign. The adviser was not named in the statement, but a campaign spokesman confirmed it is Brian May, who signed the rules agreement before the debate on behalf of the Sink campaign.
