Bayou Texar Could Get More Help Soon

In e-mail correspondences between City Council member Larry B. Johnson and City Manager Al Coby, Johnson raises concern over the protection of Bayou Texar and Project Green Shores.

Texar only has one boom, which sits at the mouth of the bay. Green Shores only has phase 1 protected with booms.

Coby notes that the city has a “contingency plan if the County does not provide additional protective devices” to protect the two areas.

Additionally, City Engineer Derrik Owens responds and says that BP is working to address the issue.

“I had a confernce call with DEP this am regarding booming for greenshores p2. They indicated that they are working towards getting it boomed through unified command.  They will keep us posted on the progress.”
