Be My Neighbor Day – April 23 [podcast]

It will be a beautiful day in the neighborhood when WSRE PBS KIDS hosts Be My Neighbor Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 23. This free family-fun event focuses on early learning, health and safety resources, and the neighborly values of “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood” and the late Fred Rogers.

Outdoors in the WSRE Amos Studio parking lot at Pensacola State College, more than 20 participating organizations will greet families with hands-on activities for children. Exhibits include the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse, the Pensacola Police Department K-9 Unit and new Blue Angels-themed vehicle, a Pensacola Fire Department fire engine, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s educational display.

Indoors, episodes of “Daniel’s Tiger’s Neighborhood” will be shown on the Amos Studio big screen — movie theater style. Performances by Mr. Mac Says, Pensacola Children’s Chorus and Mixon Magic Performing Arts will also take place in the studio.

Guests are encouraged to bring food donations for Manna Food Pantries and dress in costume as Daniel Tiger or another character from a favorite PBS KIDS show. A children’s costume parade will be hosted by Downtown Dave, on-field host for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
