Beach can be taxed

Hot News…details to follow.

There has been a court ruling issued in one of the tax cases against Escambia County Property Appraiser Chris Jones regarding property taxes on Pensacola Beach. The word we get is that the judge ruled that leasehold improvements – such as houses, condos, retail buildings – can be taxed.

If so, Escambia County will get about a $9 million windfall. The schools will also get about $9 million. The county offices are closed so I am having difficulty verifying this, but my source is a good one.
