Belmont-DeVillers votes to be in DIB referendum

At yesterday’s Pensacola City Council Committee of the Whole – Dolores Curry asked that the Belmont DeVillers be included in the referendum for an expanded Downtown Improvement District. The council agreed to do.

On Thursday night, the City Council will vote formally on the motion to hold the referendum to expand the district over five new areas. If it passes, property owners in those districts will vote on the measure.

I hope the City Council will pass the measure and that the property owners will also pass the referendum. Unlike the PNJ (Put off expansion of the DIB), I believe we need to build on the momentum of the Community Maritime Park vote.
