Local filmmaker Robin Reshard has wrapped up her documentary on Pensacola’s Belmont-DeVilliers neighborhood. The film is airing on WSRE this weekend, and again at the end of the month.
Reshard’s documentary—entitled “Belmont-DeVilliers: The Making of a Neighborhoodâ€â€”details the historic neighborhood’s journey. It is an account of the area’s evolution, exploring its entertainment, economy and culture.
Belmont-DeVilliers is considered a historical African-American neighborhood. During the years of segregation, the area was a regular stop on the so-called chitlin’ circuit, which provided black entertainers and their audiences with accommodating venues.
Reshard’s documentary will air locally on WSRE, Feb. 9 at 3 p.m., then again Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. The film airs again the last weekend of this month, at 3 p.m. on Feb. 23 and 1 p.m. on Feb. 24.
The documentary, as well as its soundtrack, is also available for purchase. For more information, visit http://www.themakingofaneighborhood.com/.
