The Funky Bike Fest calls for creative people of all ages to get your funky bicycles ready to show off to the people of Pensacola. Get a head start and start designing now.
The fun takes place Saturday, March 28, 1–5 p.m., in Pensacola’s historic Belmont Devilliers neighborhood. To enter the Funky Bike Contest, just bring your decorated, artsy, repurposed, or otherwise funky bicycle to the festival at Devilliers Square, Belmont and Devilliers Streets by 2 pm. Bikes will be placed on display to the community and a panel of judges will select the best and funkiest bikes in town.
Contest categories include best antique bicycle, most outrageous, best children’s bike, and best in show.
Kids who show up early (between 12 noon and 1:30 p.m.) on the day of the festival can get free help decorating their bikes, courtesy of 512 Gallery.
The festival will feature educational information and presentations about safe bicycling, bicycle commuting, and creating a more bike-friendly city, plus live music amplified by a pedal-powered off-the-grid sound system.
Pensacola is becoming a more bike-friendly community—let’s celebrate the bicycle! Hosted by 350 Pensacola, the festival is free and open to the public. More information can be found on the event’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/350pensacola, or call 850-687-9968.
