Bizarre tale – Guns, WMS and ‘fake’ tutors

All schools in Escambia County are on alert this morning after two men claiming to be tutors were pulled over by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office on New Warrington Road this morning before 9 a.m. and officers found an arsenal in their vehicle. Officers uncovered in the white Chevy Suburban multiple handguns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, ammunition clips, Tasers, handcuffs, and brass knuckles.

The two men in vehicle claimed to be tutors for Warrington Middle School. They had stopped around 5 p.m. Wednesday by a Flomaton police officer over for an illegal lane change. They were released without any criminal charges or traffic citations.

Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has told the media that the men weren’t scheduled to go to the school and that the district is not affiliated with the tutoring company. Extra security has been in place at schools throughout the district.

NorthEscambia.com is reporting the weapons have been turned over to ATF and no arrests have been made.
