A Pensacola coffee company has been granted the first ever food & beverage license by the Department of the Navy for Blue Angels® Blend coffee.
“We’re very excited,†said Ed Lemox, founder of De Luna Coffee International, a coffee roasting and distribution company. “This will allow us to offer our coffee on Navy bases, including commissaries, exchanges and museums, and will help increase our business and spread the names of Pensacola and the Blue Angels® worldwide.â€
The Navy will receive a percentage of all Blue Angels® Blend sales, which, by statute, will go to support Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs.
“The Blue Angels® and Pensacola go together, so it seemed like a natural fit,†said Lemox. Other blends celebrate such Pensacola icons as Graffiti Bridge, the Pensacola Beach sign, the Pensacola Beach Ball, Palafox Place and the Five Flags, among others. “We like to share some of Pensacola’s history and unique character with locals and tourists alike.â€
Blue Angels® Blend is one of the many different coffees that are roasted, packaged and distributed by Lemox, a Pensacola native who has been in the coffee business for 17 years. Pensacola, Florida is the home of the Blue Angels® flight demonstration squadron and is now also home to the first ever food & beverage product to be officially licensed by the Department of the Navy.
Blue Angels® Blend coffee is “our high altitude blend of Costa Rican, Colombian and Sumatran beans. It will keep you flying high with precision all day,†says the package, which bears the flight team’s blue-and-gold insignia and logo.
