Naval Air Station Pensacola has announced the cancellation of the 2025 Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow, which was scheduled for November 14-15.
- The annual two-day event, recognized as one of the largest attractions in northwest Florida, has been called off due to ongoing uncertainty regarding government funding. The airshow typically draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Pensacola area each year, making it a significant event for both the local community and the regional economy.
Why the Cancellation?
According to NAS Pensacola Commanding Officer Captain Chandra ‘Mamasan’ Newman, the decision came down to timing and financial constraints.
- “Due to the current funding situation and the lead time required to secure and execute the necessary contracts for performers and support services, cancellation of the 2025 Homecoming Airshow is unavoidable,” Newman explained in a statement released today. “This decision was not made lightly, and we recognize the impact it will have on the community.”
Event organizers made the difficult call after carefully weighing the financial requirements needed to execute such a large-scale production. The complexity and advanced planning required for an event of this magnitude meant that uncertainty around funding made it impossible to move forward.
“The NAS Pensacola staff is devastated they’re unable to bring the community the Airshow they love,” Newman said. “The Blue Angels Homecoming Airshow is a cherished tradition celebrating the military presence and relationship with the wonderful City of Pensacola, the Gulf Coast community and the aviation enthusiasts we look forward to hosting each year.”
