Bookies like Obama, Romney but Santorum rising

Europe’s largest betting company Paddy Power have today slashed the odds on Rick Santorum winning the Republican nomination after the former Pennsylvania senator won the Republican presidential contests in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado.

Paddy Power now have moved Santorum from an unlikely 20/1 on Monday to 9/2 for the Republican nomination, Mitt Romney who was at 1/16 before Tuesday’s results remains in poll position according to Paddy Power albeit at a longer price of 1/6.

Elsewhere, Newt Gingrich who was considered Romney’s nearest rival before Tuesday’s contests has seen his price drift from 16/1 to 22/1 while Texan congressman Ron Paul remains at 25/1 for the nomination.

Paddy Power a spokesperson for Paddy Power said “Rick Santorum looks to have been the real winner of the Gingrich and Romney mud slinging. He’s gotten himself right back in contention and with all the twists and turns we’ve seen already in this contest I don’t think we can rule anything out.”
