Pensacola City Attorney Lysia Bowling missed out on the city attorney position of the City of Brownsville, Texas, but she is a finalist for a similar post with the another Texas city, El Paso.
Brownsville City Commission voted unanimously to hire Municipal Judge Rene De Coss to fill the position, which will pay $180,000 per year. Bowling was one of three finalists.
Inweekly has learned that Bowling is one of three finalist to be El Paso’s next city attorney. The other finalist are Valeria Acevedo of New Braunfels, Texas; Joseph Brice, of Portland, Texas; Kimberley Mickelson, of Houston, Texas; and Interim El Paso City Manager Karla Nieman.
Prior to coming to Pensacola in 2015, Bowling served as the city attorney for the City of San Angelo, Texas, and the City of Harlingen, Texas.
