BP has agreed to pay for the tugboat and barge that will be used in the Sertoma 4th of July fireworks display. Angela Boroca, spokesperson for the Pensacola Sertoma, says she went out and asked BP for the money yesterday when it became clear her group could not find vessels to use that were within budget.
“We typically pay between $8,000-$10,000, but our budget was tight this year and nothing was available,” she says. “BP really stepped up .”
It’s good news that the oil company is helping out on a local level, particularly when they’ve put county officials on the backburner when pressed with financial obligations. Hmm…maybe the Sheriff’s Office should let Sertoma put a logo on their fly-over helicopter.
