The trials on the 2010 BP oil disaster are going to reveal what really happened on the Deepwater Horizon rig when it exploded–killing 11 men and spewing millions of gallons into the Gulf. AP is reporting on an internal BP memo from the day the Deepwater Horizon sank in which BP officials warned that if blow-out preventer didn’t work properly the crude oil could leak at a rate of 3.4 million gallons a day.
Remember BP told us that it was only about 1000 barrels (42,000 gallons), then reluctantly jumped the estimate to 5000 barrels (210,000 gallons). The oil giant fought larger estimates as being ludicrous.
