Pensacola is the beneficiary of a new contract signed by GE Wind with BP Wind Energy. GE Wind announced last week that Houston-based BP Wind Energy is purchasing 350 GE 1.6-megawatt wind turbines for U.S. wind farm projects being developed in 2011 and 2012. Total value of the equipment orders and a five-year services agreement is approximately $750 million.

Lindsay Theile, the Communications Leader for GE’s Renewable Energy business, replied, “GE turbines for BP’s Mehoopany and Flat Ridge Wind Farms are planned to be manufactured in Pensacola. Production for the Mehoopany project is already underway there”
