Breaking: George buys Alice’s

The owners of the award-winning George Bistro + Bar, George and Lubi Lzai, have purchased the building on 1504 W. Intendencia St. that was home to Alice’s, according to NAI Pensacola CEO Dee Dee Davis, who handled the deal.

George’s – which has been one of Pensacola’s most sought-after reservations since moving to its Ninth Avenue location – has been a perennial winner in the Inweekly’s Best of the Coast survey – winning Best Restaurant Overall in 2022. Chef George Lzai has been one o of the top finishers in the Best Chef category.

For one of the Best of the Coast articles, we asked Chef Lazi for a quote or mantra that kept him going when things got tough. He gave us two – “Nothing stops us” and “Make it happen.”

George Bistro + Bar will still keep its Ninth Avenue location.

Alice’s was started by Alice Guy in 2019 as an upscale restaurant that blended the famous Jamie’s Restaurant – a long staple of the area’s fine dining that closed in 2008- with a coastal vibe. Alice’s shut its doors at the end of 2022.
