Breaking: Matt Gaetz says he will not return to Congress

In an exclusive interview with Charlie Kirk, former Congressman Matt Gaetz said, “I’m still gonna be in the fight, but it’s going to be from a new perch. I do not intend to join the 119th Congress.”

Yesterday, I reported that Gov. DeSantis’s team had said Gaetz’s resignation was irrevocable. His announcement avoids a political fight between Gaetz and DeSantis.

For those keeping score, the PNJ reports that State Rep. Michelle Salzman and State Rep. Joel Rudman will have to resign 10 days before the qualifying period. I reported that information on Wednesday.

DIG DEEPER: Charlie Kirk is the founder and president of Turning Point USA. From his website, the organization is “a national student movement dedicated to identifying, organizing, and empowering young people to promote the principles of free markets and limited government. With a presence on over 3,000 high school and college campuses nationwide, over 650,000 lifetime student members, and 450 full- and part-time staff all across the country, Turning Point USA is the largest and fastest-growing conservative youth activist organization in the country.
