Breaking news: 12 corrections staff tested positive

When questioned by the Escambia County commissioners, Escambia County Corrections Chief Rich Powell said that he currently has 12 employees that have tested positive for COVID. Another 13 employees are waiting for test results.

Powell later said the jail collected specimens from 44 inmates this morning.

The commissioners also heard that six beach lifeguards have tested positive.
