Bring back idea of selling City Hall

In April 2005, the Pensacola City Council considered whether to sell City Hall or repair it. The City Council voted 9-1 -Mike Wiggins was the sole dissenting vote- to repair the building damaged by Hurricane Ivan. The council was told that “employees are stressed and morale has declined.”

At the time, several council members and City Manager Tom Bonfield said that selling the seven-story building on 6.2-acres of prime real estate that overlooks Pensacola Bay was still possibility, maybe five years from then.

Well. 2010 is a year away. Maybe it’s time that we consider using the building as bait to attract a corporation looking for a new headquarters.
