Buzz: County gets no relief from Scott pension reform

I spoke with County Commissioner Grover Robinson yesterday about the budget. He said that Gov. Rick Scott’s proposal for county employees to contribute 5 percent of their pension costs to Florida Retirement System will not benefit the county. Scott intends to use the 5 percent to help budget the state budget. He plans to offset the savings at the county level by cutting the sales tax distribution to the county. Escambia County’s budget will not be helped by its employees paying part of the cost.
