The battle over what event will be approved for September 30-October 2, 2011 may push DeLuna Fest to downtown Pensacola. Pensacola Beach Songwriter’s Festival and Pensacola Beach Triathlon both want the same weekend and don’t want to share it with the outdoor music festival. Most beach businesses owners boomed during last year’s festival. The SRIA alone got nearly $50,000 in fees from the event.
I’m not sure the other two much of an impact, but this is Pensacola. And Pensacola knows how to kill a good party, better than anyone.
My advice to the Deluna fest crew: Move it downtown, promote your own run event and let the other two explain it to the beach businesses.
