Buzz: GLA students coming from all over district

Superintendent Malcolm Thomas promised the public that only students inside the school’s attendance zone (inner-city of Pensacola) would be allowed to attend the new Global Learning Academy by his office on Pace Boulevard. It’s not going to happen. State law allows students in D and F schools to pick any school in the district.

We’re hearing parents are pulling their kids from other public schools and enrolling them in the GLA. The School District had hoped to lure kids away from charter and private schools and beef up its overall numbers to get more funds from the state.

We can’t wait to see the October enrollment numbers and learn where the GLA students came from.
