Buzz: Hobbs promoted to chief deputy

According to Instagram, Commander Andy Hobbs has been promoted by Sheriff Chip Simmons to chief deputy. He replaces Tommi Lyter. The sheriff’s office website doesn’t have an update or a press release to confirm it.

However, Ronnie Rivera posted on his Instagram account: “Congratulations to my friend and Escambia County Sheriff’s Officer NEW Chief Deputy, Andrew Hobbs.”

Rivera added, “Today, Sheriff Simmons recognized Andy’s commitment to professional law enforcement by promoting him. We could not be more proud of his hard work and determination.”
