Buzz: Steve Stephens favored for administrator (updated)

Steve Stevens, former CFO for Sheriff Ron McNesby, owner of Cabana Lounge and who failed to get approval of the Florida Senate to sit on the Public Service Commission, appears to have at least two votes for the Escambia County Administrator position. PNJ’s Mark O’Brien has already predicted that Stevens will be given the job.

The rumor is that Stevens tops the lists of both Wilson Robertson and Gene Valentino. Before joining the McNesby “Boys’ Club,” Stevens was a longtime county employee. And there are several power brokers in town lobbying for him….remember that sector plan is still out there. Without Touart on the county commission, certain people are scrambling for access to county power.

The next couple of weeks will be interesting to watch.
