Buzz: Tensions run high in Pensacola Village

The shooting of a toddler, 19 months, on Friday afternoon has the residents of the housing project on Fairfield Drive inside the city limits upset. Drugs and guns are at epidemic portions.

The baby, Tyquaris Moultrie, was killed when suspects fired multiple shots into the apartment. Vincent Dennis, age 21, was injured. The family has pleaded for neighbors to come forward with any information to help find the shooters. Police suspect drugs were involved in the shooting.

The next day was the funeral of Rodeshia “Biscuit” Norris. Thousands showed up for the service to honor the 27-year-old who was killed by her boyfriend Davon Bradley on July 10. Witnesses said Bradley shot at Norris and chased her across the parking lot into a neighbor’s apartment. He then shot himself. Bradley is suspected of being a drug dealer.

As one source told me about the funeral, everybody was packing and many feared that a shooting might happen after the service.

Unfortunately it’s only a matter of time before the violence spills over in the white community. Those attending the funeral and others in the African-American community don’t believe enough attention is being paid on the this by local law enforcement.
