By the numbers: Covid cases surge

The Florida Department of Health released a report Friday that reflected a surge in COVID-19 cases this month. Here are totals of new cases for the past 10 weeks:

— Week starting Oct. 15: 15,292

— Week starting Oct. 22: 13,123

— Week starting Oct. 29: 11,118

— Week starting Nov. 5: 10,684

— Week starting Nov. 12: 10,882

— Week starting Nov. 19: 9,639

— Week starting Nov. 26: 10,873

— Week starting Dec. 3: 13,452

— Week starting Dec. 10: 29,519

— Week starting Dec. 17: 125,201

CDC reports for Escambia County: 

Cases: 189  – up 56% over previous week

Positivity rate: 9.59%

Hospital admissions: 23

Boosters:  27%  for 18 and older;  39%  for 50 and older

  1. I read that the state of Florida is not releasing COVID results for the next two weeks. But thus seems like critical time with the dramatic rise in cases. What is your opinion?
